Emergency Shelter
R.I.S.E. provides emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children in Clare, Gratiot, and Isabella counties.Our shelter is a safe and supportive environment where clients can receive counseling, group work, and guidance in reaching their individual goals. Through empowerment and encouragement, our advocates work with clients, providing survivors with resources to function emotionally, economically, and safely within the community once they have exited the relationship. This may include advocacy on their behalf, community referrals, and transportation when appropriate.

Counseling
R.I.S.E. provides both individual and group counseling for clients depending on their situation and preference.
Domestic Violence Counseling
Many survivors of domestic violence are not seeking shelter or emergency services, and our outreach counseling program is designed to meet their needs. This program may include home visits, advocacy, and transportation to case-related appointments. The counseling goal is violence-free living. Anyone in Clare, Isabella, or Gratiot counties who is in an, or has been in, an abusive relationship is eligible for this free service.Individual counseling appointments are available by appointment and are scheduled by calling (989) 773-7960.

Sexual Assault Counseling
Persons who have experienced sexual assault may have long-term special needs related to this abuse. Our sexual assault counselors meet with clients in Clare, Isabella, and Gratiot counties, and anyone who has experienced sexual abuse is eligible for this service.

Children’s Counseling
R.I.S.E. has a children’s counselor who is able to meet with children, parents, and families dealing with domestic violence and/or sexual assault. These services may include home visits, school visits, or any other environment that is comfortable for both the child and adults.

Sexual Assault Services
To meet the immediate needs of individuals who have experienced sexual assault and abuse, R.I.S.E. has developed a comprehensive sexual assault services program. These intervention services are handled by both staff and volunteers specifically trained in the dynamics of sexual abuse and may include; individual counseling and support services, legal and medical advocacy, support groups, and community education and referrals.

Legal Advocacy
R.I.S.E. employs legal advocates who are available to assist clients in Clare, Isabella, and Gratiot counties. Our legal advocacy program provides free court assistance and resources to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our advocates assist with Personal Protection Orders (PPOs), court accompaniment, legal referrals (such as Legal Aid or private attorneys), advocacy, and support services.
